What We Believe at Salt and Light Church
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17, 2 Peter 1:20–21)
2. The One True God
We believe there is one eternal God who exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things and is holy, sovereign, loving, and worthy of all worship.
(Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19)
3. The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return again in glory.
(John 1:1, John 1:14, Isaiah 7:14, 1 Corinthians 15:3–4, Acts 1:9–11)
4. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe that all people are separated from God by sin and are in need of salvation. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice and resurrection, we are forgiven, justified, and made new creations in Him.
(Romans 3:23–24, Ephesians 2:8–9, 2 Corinthians 5:17)
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, and empowers the Church. The Holy Spirit fills, guides, and equips believers for holy living and effective ministry.
(John 16:7–13, Acts 1:8)
6. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament are active and available today for the edification of the Church and the advancement of the Gospel. These gifts are given by God to equip believers for ministry and to demonstrate His power and love.
(1 Corinthians 12:4–11, Romans 12:6–8)
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ made up of all believers who have been redeemed through Jesus Christ. The Church exists to worship God, build up believers through discipleship, and proclaim the Gospel to the world.
(Ephesians 1:22–23, Matthew 28:19–20)
8. Baptism and Communion
We believe in water baptism as a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and identification with His death and resurrection. We also observe the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a celebration of the New Covenant.
(Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:19–20, Romans 6:3–4)
9. The Christian Life
We believe believers are called to live holy lives, growing in faith, love, and obedience to God. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians are empowered to walk in righteousness, reflect the character of Christ, and serve others with compassion and humility.
(Galatians 5:22–23, Romans 12:1–2)
10. The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ will return again personally and visibly. He will establish His kingdom, judge the living and the dead, and bring the fullness of His eternal reign.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, Revelation 22:12)
11. Eternal Life
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ will enjoy eternal life with God, and those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.
(John 3:16, Daniel 12:2, Revelation 20:11–15)
12. The Mission of the Church
We believe the Church is called to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, minister to the hurting, and bring the light of Christ to every nation. Through evangelism, discipleship, and the power of the Holy Spirit, we seek to fulfill the Great Commission.
(Matthew 28:18–20, Acts 1:8)
